MARCH 2017 – On Thursday, March 2, Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal (KRSM) Project Manager Paul Novak served as a mentor for a team of University of Cincinnati (UC) students who participated in the third annual Alliance Construction Management (CM) Student Competition hosted by the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) at their International Roofing Expo (IRE) in Las Vegas.

The four UC students who competed were Brian Mallernee (team captain), Matt Hudak, Daniel Kurtz, and Michael Kadash, all of whom have served one or more terms in the Kalkreuth Intern/Co-op Program. Paul Novak, who is an alumnus of UC, served as the Alliance Member Team Mentor and was able to generate a relationship with the UC CM professor who assisted the group in their presentation, Jason Mack.

“Even though the UC team did not win the competition, it provided an opportunity for Jason and I to discuss the need to increase awareness of the roofing industry among CM students within their curriculum,” Paul said. “Per Jason’s recommendation, KRSM has been invited to teach a roofing class at the University this fall. We are sincerely appreciative of Jason and and his efforts to advocate roofing.”
