Shawnda Burgess and Stephanie Barry, Project Administrators for KRSM, recently started the Wheeling Council for National Women in Roofing (NWiR). Their first community initiative was to give back to healthcare workers during National Nurses Month. NWiR Wheeling Council collaborated with several sponsors to honor over 300 nurses from Wheeling Hospital.“Nurses Month is personal for us, as we both have family members in the healthcare field and see how COVID-19 has been more intense than a typical day,” said Stephanie Barry. “We are thankful for our healthcare workers all year long and National Nurses Month gave us a great opportunity to show the healthcare professionals our gratitude for their selfless dedication and commitment during these times.”
National Women in Roofing is a volunteer-based organization that supports and advances the careers of women in the construction industry. They provide networking, mentoring, education, and recruitment opportunities to empower women in roofing, and to contribute to the overall betterment and professionalism of the industry.
“Stephanie and I started the Wheeling Council because we are both passionate about our industry and helping others,” said Shawnda Burgess. “This organization is a way for us to work with women in roofing and other construction trades, and to encourage each other to make a positive impact within the industry.”

We are pleased to announce that Seth Abraham, Director of HR and Safety at Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal, has recently been appointed to TAUC’s Board of Directors.
“I’m excited to be given the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors at TAUC and help make a difference for Kalkreuth and the union construction industry. TAUC, and it’s many members, provides so many resources and potential opportunities for Kalkreuth. It’s also a big step in helping us reach an even greater national presence” says Abraham.
Way to go, Seth! We look forward to supporting you in your new venture.
The Roofing Alliance, the foundation of the National Roofing Contractors Association, was approached with the opportunity to ‘adopt’ 165 individual roofs belonging to the homes of Ronald McDonald House Charities. Today, the 165th day of the year, we celebrate the successful adoption of all 165 roofs.
The Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal Divisions in KY, MD, PA, WV, and OH participated in the celebration by offering roofing services, providing items from their local RMHC Amazon Wishlist, or supporting ‘Adopt a Night’ for an entire month, which helps to subsidize a family’s stay at a Ronald McDonald House. We are honored to be part of such an impactful initiative and caring industry!
Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal’s Business Development Manager in our Lexington office recently lent a helping hand in the fight against COVID19. Lyndsey put her crafting skills to good use and successfully sewed and donated masks to a few of our field employees.
A little help can go a long way during this time. Way to go, Lyndsey! Keep up the great work and thank you for doing your part in keeping those around you safe!
Kalkreuth Roofing & Sheet Metal’s Frederick, Maryland division recently displayed a large banner outside the office to show support to local COVID19 workers. Our team would like to thank Humdinger Productions with their quick response time with helping us get a banner made in such a timely fashion.
We hope that this will help bring a smile to all those who pass by on the way to their way to work each day!
Kalkreuth Roofing & Sheet Metal recently teamed up with ABC Supply of Benwood, WV and Wheeling Distribution of Wheeling, WV to complete a reroof on the “Caddy Camp” at Oglebay Resort.
This structure has a ton of history! Built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), this quaint building served as the dining hall for golf caddies through the 1990’s. Famous golf course architect, Bob Biery, created the Oglebay Caddy Camp, which has been featured in several major golf magazines. Youngsters from all over the Ohio Valley would spend the summer at Caddy Camp, caddying and working odd jobs throughout the park. When Caddy Camp ceased operations, Oglebay began using the main mess hall and cook’s quarters for small parties, weddings, family reunions and other small gatherings. Although the original “Caddy Camp” program has been discontinued, the historic building lives on.
Kalkreuth Roofing & Sheet Metal’s Sales Manager, Dan Tennant, attended Caddy Camp as a kid and was thrilled that the company he works for was able to have a hand in bringing this building back to life.
While we face a lot of uncertainty in the world today, one thing we know for sure is we are all in this together, which is why Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal is a proud sponsor of Home of the Brave.
Home of the Brave is a community-based fundraiser providing comfort food or supplies from local merchants to our front line responders.
We are thrilled to be able to help out our community out where we can during this difficult time.
Kalkreuth Roofing & Sheet Metal was recently recognized by Centria’s 2019 Building Excellence Awards for a project we did at One University Circle in Cleveland, Ohio. Our Wheeling team took home second place in Overall Building, and first place in Multi-Residential for their work. Congratulations to everyone who helped make this project happen!
