Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal is proud to achieve a #10 ranking among the Top 100 roofers in the nation by Roofing Contractor magazine!
We sincerely appreciate everyone on the Kalkreuth Team for your efforts in our continued growth from year to year.
We would not be able to achieve the success we have seen without the hard work of our valued team members across all of our offices— congratulations and keep up the good work!
On Saturday, August 3rd, Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal (KRSM) rallied a team to “Race for a Reason” in the 22nd Annual Debbie Green Memorial 5K Run/Walk for Leukemia in Wheeling, WV.
Kalkreuth once again served as Title Sponsor for this year’s race. Along with nearly 1,000 other participants, 84 of our employees, friends, and family registered for the race to represent Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal as the Title Sponsor.
We were proud to assemble the largest team in the race once again this year. We are thankful to everyone who was involved, including members of the KRSM team who placed in their respective categories: Kyle Sowinski, Brennan Wack, Caroline Wack, Natalie Forsyth, Martha Kuntz, Kyle Lachendro, Michael Shively, Emily Kaniecki, and Erin Lucas.
Debbie Green was diagnosed with Leukemia in 1970 and lost her battle in 1972. Her brother Ron, only four years old at the time, now operates this annual race for Leukemia victims and has recently opened it up to benefit families stricken with other types of childhood cancer as well.
“This event represents such a worthy cause in the Ohio Valley. It has such meaning to me and to everyone who has been affected by cancer. This race offers support to children who are effected by the disease and we as a community are able to stand with them so that they don’t have to go through this alone,” said company Chairman John Kalkreuth. “We support the Debbie Green Memorial 5K because none of us can do a lot as individuals, but when a community comes together, we can make a difference.”
This year, the race befitted Ava Blanchard and Penelope Byler. Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this race for another successful year!
Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal’s (KRSM) newly-developed charity organization, Kalkreuth Roofing Charities, held its annual Kalkreuth Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) on the Arnold Palmer and Robert Trent Jones, Jr golf courses at Oglebay Resort’s Speidel Golf Club in Wheeling West Virginia on July 27 and 28. The KAGC is a premier tournament in the tri-state area and hosted over 200 golfers this year.
In addition to the weekend tournament, KRSM hosted its 5th Annual Kalkreuth Vendor Invitation (KVI) on Friday, July 26 as a way of saying ‘thank you’ to nearly 50 valued vendor partners who sponsored the KAGC. This event also took place on the Palmer and Jones courses and was preceded by a welcome dinner on July 25. The initial check presentation to Easter Seals took place after dinner with our two Co-Title Sponsors for the KAGC, ABC Supply and Johns Manville.
Proceeds from these golf events contribute to the annual donation to the Easter Seal Rehabilitation Center in Wheeling, West Virginia. Their work is to create solutions that change the lives of children and adults with disabilities, or other special needs, and their families. With an overwhelming amount of generosity and continued support including mulligan sales and cash donations on the day of the KVI, the total contributions increased by $4,220, and Kalkreuth Roofing Charities was able to donate a total of $31,720 for 2019. Kalkreuth Roofing Charities has donated over $120,000 to Easter Seals over the last 8 years.
“I’m beyond thankful for the continued support of everyone involved with both of these golf events,” said Chairman John Kalkreuth. “It is because of you that we are able continue this tradition while supporting our community.”
This month, Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal (KRSM) would like to highlight the Michael B. Coleman Government Center and parking garage project in Columbus, Ohio.
The Michael B. Coleman Government Center is the new city office building and is part of the City of Columbus Government Municipal Campus division. Construction for this 8-story, 180,000-square-foot high rise began in 2015 and was officially completed in summer of 2018.
Altogether, KRSM installed over 70,000 square feet of material on this project which included 28,000 square feet of rainscreen panels, 6,300 square feet of insulated panels, 3,000 square feet of corrugated panels, 1,000 square feet of standing seam panels, 1,000 square feet of sunshades, and 32,900 square feet of built-up roofing.
“The project went very well,” said KRSM Project Manager Chris Lemmon. “Everyone did their part to ensure its success.”
This project also received a LEED Silver certification through the U.S. Green Building Council and was featured in the ‘Project Focus Section’ of the June 2019 edition of Metal Construction News (MCN) magazine. To read the full article on MCN’s website, visit www.metalconstructionnews.com/projects.

JUNE 2019 – With our busy schedules and fast-paced work environment, we can sometimes take for granted the people who help make our lives easier. We’d like to recognize our project administrators for helping us with everything we do.
Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal (KRSM) and East Coast Metal Systems (ECMS) has a total of seven project administrators on our team. Starting off with our corporate headquarters in Wheeling, West Virginia, we have three project administrators: Anita Haught who has been with the company for 25 years, Shawnda Burgess who has been with us for almost 8 years, and Stephanie Barry who recently joined the team. Lori Trainor is located in our Frederick, Maryland office and has been part of the team for a little over 12 years. In Columbus, Ohio we have Becky McClaskey who was highlighted in the October 2018 edition of the company newsletter and has been with the company for 11 years. Mollie Absher works in our Lexington, Kentucky office and has been with us for nearly 8 years. In our Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania office we have Vicki Fender who has been with us for almost 2 years. Finally, at ECMS in Triadelphia, West Virginia we have Sharon Holstein who was highlighted in the September 2018 edition of the company newsletter and has been with the company for almost 13 years.
Project Administrators play a huge role within the KRSM/ECMS team. From handling new contracts and subcontracts, setting up jobs, and sending out production, projected sales, and project completion reports to handling warranties, our Project Administrators are involved with every job that our company undertakes. “It’s great to be able to see the progress and success we have made with the team we have built,” said Mollie. “We all work so well together.”
In addition, each of our Project Administrators work closely with our team of Project Mangers, Co-Op Interns, and Estimators to make sure each project runs smoothly and everyone involved is up-to-date. “In our position as Project Administrators, we are the lifeline between project managers, field personnel, and office staff,” said Anita.
We are extremely proud and thankful for our team of hardworking employees. We wouldn’t be where we are today without their support and continued hard work and dedication to the smooth operations of KRSM and ECMS!
