BUILDING ENVELOPE BOOT CAMP

JUNE 22, 2016 — Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal began its second round of “boot camp” which serves as a 5-week administrative basic training/intro to the construction process and various aspects of exterior envelope applications. This initiative began last year when an employee suggested some kind of training for newly hired staff to learn what we do in the field.

New hires gathered in the conference room for their first lesson on the job functions of different positions throughout the construction process. These included estimating, engineering, project management, and safety. Estimating VP Chad McLeish walked through the internal process from start to finish and then explained handoff and kickoff meetings as they relate to the start of each project.

In the weeks to come, the group will discuss low-slope roofing, steep-slope roofing, ACM wall cladding systems, and formed and insulated wall cladding systems. We thank each of our volunteer teachers as well as our participants for taking the initiative to learn the industry!
