On Saturday, August 3rd, Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal (KRSM) rallied a team to “Race for a Reason” in the 22nd Annual Debbie Green Memorial 5K Run/Walk for Leukemia in Wheeling, WV.

Kalkreuth once again served as Title Sponsor for this year’s race. Along with nearly 1,000 other participants, 84 of our employees, friends, and family registered for the race to represent Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal as the Title Sponsor.

We were proud to assemble the largest team in the race once again this year. We are thankful to everyone who was involved, including members of the KRSM team who placed in their respective categories: Kyle Sowinski, Brennan Wack, Caroline Wack, Natalie Forsyth, Martha Kuntz, Kyle Lachendro, Michael Shively, Emily Kaniecki, and Erin Lucas.

Debbie Green was diagnosed with Leukemia in 1970 and lost her battle in 1972. Her brother Ron, only four years old at the time, now operates this annual race for Leukemia victims and has recently opened it up to benefit families stricken with other types of childhood cancer as well.

“This event represents such a worthy cause in the Ohio Valley. It has such meaning to me and to everyone who has been affected by cancer. This race offers support to children who are effected by the disease and we as a community are able to stand with them so that they don’t have to go through this alone,” said company Chairman John Kalkreuth. “We support the Debbie Green Memorial 5K because none of us can do a lot as individuals, but when a community comes together, we can make a difference.”

This year, the race befitted Ava Blanchard and Penelope Byler. Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this race for another successful year!
