April 2018 – Austin started working for KRSM in 2013 as a Co-op/Intern and served four rotations within the program—three in production and one in estimating—all while attending the University of Cincinnati to earn his Bachelor of Science in Construction Management. Upon graduation, Austin was offered a position as Project Manager (PM). “A project manager generally works with the foreman to create a project plan based on field conditions. From there, we make sure things are on track and will be completed on time as well as making sure we have the correct equipment and safety measures,” Austin said.
Throughout the years, Austin has worked on many high-profile projects including the Marriott Marquis in Washington, DC, his largest completed project to date. He is currently working on the Columbia Place Apartments and Hotel in DC, which is even larger than the Marriott Marquis. “Austin takes ownership, represents Kalkreuth’s interests, and puts us in the position to meet and exceed customer expectations, and he does it in such a friendly manner,” said Maryland Vice President Dave Hesse. “He is relentless and a great communicator. He takes great pride in representing KRSM on all of his jobs and has a great rapport with the field teams.”
“Being a PM carries great responsibility as we manage everything on a project from the time we get a contract until we complete final punch lists. The well-rounded experience we gain is second to none because you can’t get that anywhere else, and that’s what I love about Kalkreuth,” Austin said. “Paying attention to details is key. All the little stuff matters, whether it relates to the composite panels, roofing, or safety program. We must be able to deal with adverse conditions because we are always learning new products and installation techniques on a day-to-day or week-to-week basis.”
We are proud to have Austin as a member of the Kalkreuth family, and we appreciate his continuous hard work and dedication to each and every job. Keep up the good work Austin!
