April 2017 – Amanda Long with Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal’s (KRSM) Kentucky division is this month’s featured service foreman.
Amanda began working for KRSM in 2013 with the labor union. She caught on very quickly and was promptly asked to switch to the roofers union, and she is now a Service Foreman. Amanda recalled her first project with KRSM was the Griffin Gate Marriott in Lexington, KY where she quickly adapted to a switch from a production crew to service halfway through the project. Another one of her high profile projects was the University of Kentucky’s Commonwealth Stadium. Amanda is currently starting a new project at Morehead State University working on the new east parking and dining facility with Service Manager Steve Mitchell installing curb flashing, walkway pads, and pipe boots.
Amanda has a total of 4 years experience in the industry and has worked on several high-profile projects during her time with Kalkreuth. The most memorable project she noted was a government job at the Federal Prison Medical Center in Lexington where she said she learned everything.
“Amanda is a dedicated worker and caught on to the roofing industry very quickly,” said Service Manager Steve Mitchell who works with her frequently. “She has gained the respect of her coworkers and has earned her position as service foreman.”
When asked about safety on the job, Amanda said “It’s extremely important. We all want to go home the same way we came in.” Amanda lives in Harrodsburg, KY and has three children, Destiny (14), Gryson (10), and Mason (7). We are proud to have Amanda as a member of the Kalkreuth family and sincerely appreciate her continuous hard work and dedication to service excellence since she began in 2013.
