Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal (KRSM) Submittal Engineer Kristina Koepke recently passed her LEED Green Associate (GA) Exam.
Koepke has only been with KRSM for two years but has been working with LEED projects for about 10 years since graduating college. Two of her biggest LEED projects thus far were the DC United Stadium and the University of Maryland Cole Field House. Although she has only taken the first half of the LEED exam, Kristina hopes to take the second half to become certified as a LEED Accredited Professional (AP) in Building Construction and Design (BD + C) sometime in August.
“In Maryland, most of our projects are LEED. As a Submittal Engineer, I see more of these types of projects every day,” she said. “I wanted to understand more of the LEED rating system, and it shows our customers that we are knowledgeable about sustainability and that they can rely on us to do the work correctly.”
With Kristina working her way up the LEED charts, KRSM’s LEED future is looking bright. “With Kristina now having her LEED GA certification, it will help her not only with bidding process but it will also help the outreach in our areas,” said Ed Calvert, KRSM Senior Engineer, LEED AP BD + C, GRP. “We now have several people on staff that have this accreditation, through which we bring a lot of knowledge and experience to every project.”
Congratulations to Kristina Koepke on passing your LEED GA exam, and good luck on your upcoming LEED AP exam!
