Project Description

Ohio University’s Aquatic Center – home to an Olympic-sized pool (50 meters x 25 yards) – is located between Bird Arena, Walter Hall, and Grove Center. While the facility is open to students, faculty, staff, and the community, it supports various University programs, academics, and athletics, such as the men’s and women’s swimming teams.

OU’s mission statement reads, “Ohio University holds as its central purpose the intellectual and personal development of its students.” The Aquatic Center supports this mission by authorizing student staff to design programs and events for the communities they serve.

The project included removing the existing ballast, EPDM, and insulation and installing a new vapor barrier, insulation, EPDM, and protection mat. All components adhered 12′ around the roof’s perimeter and 2’x2′ concrete pavers. The ballast was reused to hold down the remaining area.
