July 2017 – The Exelon Tower is a multi-million dollar, multi-year, LEED Platinum project that began in 2013 out of Baltimore, Maryland. This project was led by KRSM Maryland Roofing Foreman, Raul Calderon and KRSM Maryland Sheet Metal Foreman, Oscar Tejada.
In just a short period of time, The Exelon building, standing 23 stories tall, became a highly publicized project and gained a high level of attention in the Baltimore area. Due to busy streets, two tower cranes were used to lift supplies up to the top of the building with little room to spare on the ground, which left crews unloading up to four truckloads of material a day. This was not the only challenge for the crews. From day one, one of their main focuses on the job was safety. Safety railings were installed and used until the job was completely finished which ultimately lead this crew to finish this project without safety issues.During this project, KRSM crews provided both the roofing and wall panel installation. The project consisted of hot fluid applied roofing, vegetative roofing, pavers, ballast, modified roofing, metal wrap, corrugated panels, perforated panels, zinc panels, louvers and expansion joints. Altogether, KRSM crews worked on nearly 100,000 square feet of this building. “The project management was very helpful during this project and contributed a lot to the overall finished product,” said Raul Calder-son, “They helped the project run so much smoother, and I am thankful for that”.
