Large-Scale Sports Facility Roofing Completed for the Cincinnati Open

When the $260 million transformation of the Cincinnati Open campus set out to redefine one of the Midwest’s premier sports venues, the timeline was non-negotiable. Led by Barton Malow in partnership with Beemok Capital and the Cincinnati Open ownership group, the project broke ground in early 2024 with a firm completion date ahead of the 2025 tournament.

From start to finish, the campus overhaul moved at an aggressive pace, about eight months from mobilization to completion. As the commercial roofing partner for this high-profile renovation, Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal delivered complex, multi-structure roofing systems under intense scheduling demands, ensuring the venue was ready for world-class competition.

Delivering Commercial Roofing at Championship Scale

As part of the large-scale campus modernization, Kalkreuth provided comprehensive roofing solutions across multiple new and renovated structures. Our work supported both performance and aesthetics, protecting high-traffic public areas, premium hospitality spaces, and critical back-of-house facilities.

Clubhouse Roofing

The new clubhouse served as the architectural and operational centerpiece of the renovation. Kalkreuth installed:

• 28,000 sq. ft. of TPO roofing
• 28,000 sq. ft. of full vapor barrier system
• 975 LF of TPO walkpads
• 850 LF of metal coping
• 11,800 sq. ft. of hot fluid-applied rubberized asphalt waterproofing
• 3″ XPS thermal insulation across entire footprint
• 2-15/16″ HeavyGuard mortar-faced insulation across entire footprint
• 11,800 sq. ft. of concrete slab pavers installed on an adjustable pedestal system

This high-performance assembly was engineered for durability, moisture protection, and thermal efficiency.

Multi-Building TPO Roofing Installation

Beyond the clubhouse, Kalkreuth installed more than 27,000 square feet of additional TPO roofing systems across the campus, including:

• Sponsor Building – 11,500 sq. ft. of TPO roofing
• Storage Building – 5,000 sq. ft. of TPO roofing + 210 LF metal coping
• Entrance Canopy – 3,000 sq. ft. of TPO roofing
• Ticket Booth – 3,000 sq. ft. of TPO roofing + 150 LF metal coping
• South Entrance – 3,000 sq. ft. of TPO roofing
• East Entrance – 500 sq. ft. of TPO roofing
• VIP Entrance – 500 sq. ft. of TPO roofing
• Walkways – 600 sq. ft. of TPO roofing
• Elevator Roof – 300 sq. ft. of TPO roofing

In addition, Kalkreuth installed all drip edge and flashings integral to the roofing systems, ensuring long-term weather protection and seamless system performance.
