Type of Roofing Systems
Built-Up Roofing Systems
Built-up asphalt and coal-tar bituminous roof systems are the tried-and-true historic standards in low-slope roof applications. Multiple plies, or layers, are applied with hot bitumen to achieve a highly durable roof assembly. Coal tar and asphalt are heated in a kettle. Then they are applied via mop or mechanical spreader. Asphalt roof systems are highly durable, and coal-tar pitch systems are somewhat self-healing in nature due to their low melting point. Kalkreuth Roofing can assist in determining the type of built-up system best suited for your situation. We can also install both self-adhered and fully adhered vapor barriers under any of our roofing systems.

Learn MoreVegetative Roofing Systems
Intensive and Extensive vegetative roofing systems provide numerous benefits to the buildings and environments in which they are used including reduced heat island effect, lowered energy usage, and improved air quality. Live roofing can be incorporated into most designs and can add efficiency, aesthetics, and value to your building. Although initially more expensive to install than traditional roofing, vegetative roofing provides a number of long term cost savings, may qualify for federal tax credits, and is a solution for increasingly prevalent storm water runoff regulations.
