JUNE 2018 – Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal (KRSM) Accounts Receivable (A/R) Collections Administrator Karen Bowman from our Corporate Headquarters in Wheeling, West Virginia was selected as this month’s featured employee.
Karen has been working in accounting for 26 years and will hit her 12 year mark with KRSM in August. From the beginning, she has always loved numbers and has always had a ‘math brain.’
She deals with all commercial jobs across KRSM’s six different office locations and is the only one within the company that does what she does. From sending and receiving lien waivers to deposits, Karen works with other departments frequently, including upper management, project managers, and other accounting employees. “You must realize what you do affects everyone. You must work as a team and think about how what you do may affect others,” Karen said.
When a job is completed and final payment is received, Karen is the last stop before filing a job folder. Interestingly enough, she is the only person within the company that physically handles every job folder— that accounted for approximately 400 folders just last year!
Throughout her time here at KRSM, Karen has seen the company grow tremendously. In fact, Karen is at her fourth office location with the company. Along with KRSM, the accounting world has also changed and continues to change daily. Systems and compliances have become more difficult, and forms are always changing sometimes monthly, weekly, and even daily.
Karen chose to work for KRSM because she wanted a career she could rely on until she retires, and she felt as if Kalkreuth would be able to provide her with that job security. “I am always proud to say that I work for Kalkreuth,” Karen said.
“Karen has proven her dedication to the company over the years, and it shows in her work ethic. She goes above and beyond and is always diligent in her duties. She truly does a great job, and I’m grateful to have her on our team,” said KRSM CFO Wes Nickell.
