Project Description
When Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal’s Columbus commercial roofing team was selected to complete roofing improvements for the Jackson Pike Wastewater Treatment Plant Administration Building, the project required careful planning and precise execution. The team also coordinated work within an active municipal facility. The scope included 54 squares of TPO roofing, a built-up roofing (BUR) system, Tremco modified bitumen with gravel surfacing, 420 linear feet of coping, and 2,520 square feet of wood blocking.
Because the Administration Building supports critical plant operations, maintaining daily activities was a top priority. Therefore, Kalkreuth developed a phased installation plan to reduce disruptions. The team also maintained safe access and efficient material staging throughout the project. In addition, each roofing system was integrated to meet the building’s different performance requirements.
The 54-square TPO roof provides a reflective, energy-efficient solution. It also helps withstand UV exposure and changing temperatures. Meanwhile, the BUR system delivers added waterproofing protection in designated areas. Tremco modified bitumen with gravel surfacing further enhances durability. As a result, the roof offers greater impact resistance and long-term membrane protection.
To strengthen the roof perimeter, the team installed 2,520 square feet of wood blocking. This created a secure foundation for flashings and edge details. In addition, 420 linear feet of coping were fabricated and installed to create a watertight, wind-resistant roof edge.
Ultimately, Kalkreuth delivered a roofing system designed for the facility’s operational needs. Through expert craftsmanship, strict safety standards, and close attention to detail, the project was completed successfully. As a result, the new roof improves long-term protection, increases energy performance, and supports the Administration Building’s essential role in serving the community.
