Scope of Work

The primary roofing scope included:

• Installation of a .060 mil TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin) membrane system for long-term waterproofing and energy efficiency
• Placement of ISO insulation to improve thermal performance and meet current building standards
• Installation of metal decking to support HVAC infill areas where structural modifications were required
• Completion of flashing details for new HVAC units, ensuring watertight transitions and protection at penetrations

Challenges & Solutions

• HVAC Integration: The addition of new rooftop units required infill framing and decking modifications. Kalkreuth coordinated closely with mechanical trades to ensure structural continuity and proper sequencing.
• Waterproofing at Penetrations: New equipment increased the number of roof penetrations, which can be common leak points. The team installed reinforced flashings and adhered strictly to manufacturer specifications to ensure system integrity.
• Operational Facility: Work was performed in an active educational environment, requiring careful scheduling and safety controls to minimize disruption.
