Unified Bank – Wheeling Branch

When Unified Bank built its new Wheeling branch on National Road, the design called for a building envelope that looked as distinctive as it performed. Kalkreuth was brought on as the commercial roofing and architectural metals contractor, working alongside general contractor Solidus and Shremshock Architects.

The project combined five separate roofing and wall systems on a single building. That made coordination, detailing and clean transitions between materials just as important as the installation itself. As a Wheeling-based commercial roofing contractor, Kalkreuth was able to support the project close to home.

Our scope: five systems, one building envelope

• Asphalt shingle roofing: GAF Timberline HDZ shingles in Weathered Wood, with all underlayment, flashings and trim.
• Standing seam metal roofing: PAC-CLAD Snap-Clad panels in a Kynar 500 Award Blue finish, complete with flashings, trim and snow rail.
• ACM wall panels: Alucobond aluminum composite panels in Champagne Metallic and Bowtie Blue II, including subgirts and insulation.
• Gutters, downspouts and fascia: Custom architectural sheet metal in Terra Bronze and Cotton White, with all hangers, miters, expansion joints and accessories.
• EPDM roofing: A fully adhered black EPDM low-slope roof system over polyiso insulation, plus roof hatch, flashings and trim.

The result

Unified Bank’s Wheeling branch now has a durable, low-maintenance roof and wall system with a clear brand presence from the street. The blue standing seam metal roof and two-tone ACM panels give the building a modern look, while the EPDM and shingle roof areas provide reliable weather protection.

By handling every roofing, wall panel and sheet metal scope under one contract, Kalkreuth gave the general contractor a single point of responsibility for the entire building envelope. That meant fewer trade handoffs and watertight transitions where different systems meet.
