KRSM PROJECT MANAGER REACHES 22 YEARS OF SERVICE

February 2018 – This month marks 22 years of service for Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal’s (KRSM) Project Manager Chris Lemmon. Chris started working for Kalkreuth in 1996 where he worked in the sheet metal shop as an apprentice throughout college. Upon graduation, he began working as a journeyman and continued to work his way up the ladder to a foreman then to his current position as a project manager. “With Kalkreuth being a family owned organization, there is always room for improvement and I am a prime example of that” said Chris.

Chris mainly works with sheet metal but like any other project manager, he always does a little bit of both. His first project as a field foreman was Aileron in Dayton, Ohio. Not only is this his favorite project but it was also his hardest. The overall project was unique and was designed to have pieces replicating an airplane wing (an aileron) which had to be curved on the job site.

Kalkreuth is sincerely grateful for your many years of continuous dedication and hard work. Thank you, Chris and keep up the good work!

TRAINING & RECERTIFICATION WEEK

January 2018 – Last month, Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal (KRSM) held a recertification and training week from January 15-18th for all Columbus based roofing and sheet metal foremen and apprentices.

The training consisted of a 10-hour OSHA training, a 30-hour OSHA training, a level 1 crane rigging training, and a rough terrain forklift training. Altogether, 37 people were able to attend the training and obtain recertification in these areas.

KRSM Western Territory Safety Manager Kevin Barnhart organized the training. “This was an opportunity to provide these individuals with refresher training so they stay up to date on the latest policies and procedures within our organization and the industry,” said Barnhart. “Safety is very important, and we expect our crews to get the job done safely and do the right thing even when nobody is around.”

Thanks to everyone who attended and for making safety our number one priority. Keep up the good work!

KALKREUTH PROJECT OF THE MONTH—INTERGATE ASHBURN DATA CENTER

January 2018 – Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal (KRSM) featured the Intergate Ashburn Data Center as our February “Project of the Month.”

The Intergate Ashburn is one of five Sabey Data Centers and is located in Washington, DC. The initial new construction project started with one phase but quickly extended into an additional phase due to an increase in demand.

KRSM Maryland Operations Manager Ernie Giancola has been involved with both phases of this project. “During the first phase, we installed 120,000 square feet of Firestone modified bitumen roofing, 9,000 square feet of Centria metal siding, and louvers by Construction Specialties. Phase two of this project is currently underway, and we are adding a major expansion, tenant fitouts, and additional louvers.”

Great job to all KRSM employees who took part in phase one and are working on phase two. We are excited to see the finished product!

FREDERICK FOOD BANK

January 2018 – Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal (KRSM) Technical Sales Representative Rosalind Hogan out of Maryland organized a food drive to donate items to the Frederick Food Bank, which is operated by the Frederick Community Action Agency (FCAA).

KRSM has been donating to the Frederick Food Bank for the past couple of years and, with the help of its generous employees, hopes to continue donating for years to come. Every month, the FCAA assists anywhere between 600- 800 families. VP Administrator Danielle Hawkins said, “We didn’t have a specific goal in mind, we just wanted to raise as much as we possibly could to help out the community.” Altogether, KRSM donated three boxes full of canned goods.

Great job, we are glad to have you all on the Kalkreuth team. Keep up the great work and commitment to serving your community!

KALKREUTH HOLIDAY SPIRIT

December 2017- On Saturday December 2, Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal (KRSM) and East Coast Metal Systems (ECMS) employees gathered together for their annual Christmas Party at Wheeling Park’s White Palace in Wheeling, West Virginia.

KRSM and ECMS employees, family, and friends were asked to bring an unwrapped gift to the party again this year, and over 200 gifts were donated to the local Salvation Army for the 2017 holiday season. In addition to the donated gifts, KRSM purchased a fully decorated tree from the Oglebay Institute Festival of Trees for a local family in need that was selected by the Salvation Army.

KRSM also hosted three Angel Trees supporting Catholic Charities, the St. John’s Home for Boys, and the Girl Scouts. Almost 160 children have been provided with presents from the tags employees generously took from the trees. The collected gifts were distributed to underprivileged boys and girls of various ages in the first couple weeks of December.

KRSM is sincerely appreciative of all the help we received this year from everyone who was involved. We are thankful to be blessed with the ability to make these children’s Christmas special.

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT—LEBANON CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION

November 2017- Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal (KRSM) recently completed a re-roof project near Lebanon, OH. The Lebanon Correctional Institution was a multi-million dollar project that had to be completed in a tight timeline under very strict security.

The Lebanon Correctional Institution involved 73 individual roof areas and over 18,000 lineal feet (or 3.42 miles) of edge metal.

During this project, KRSM used a brand new roofing system from Johns Manville. The JM EPDM FIT tape-to-tape system was quick, effective and eliminated many steps of installation for the 346,000-square-foot project.

Strict security and only one available entrance made things very challenging for the crew. Project Managers Paul Novak and Stephen Coyle made sure this was an obstacle they could overcome. Early arrival made it easy for crew members to get their trucks unloaded and out of the way of other trucks and vehicles entering the facility. Crew members also made sure to count and track every tool and piece of equipment before and after the day was over to ensure optimum security compliance.

Altogether, there were three roofing foremen (Mike Frye, Kermit Tackett, and Dwayne Morgan), one sheet metal foreman (Brian Blacker), one superintendent (Herschel Morrison) and two Projects Managers (Paul Novak and Stephen Coyle) all working together to successfully complete this high-profile project.

Great job to everyone involved in another successful project. Keep up the great work!

NEW WAREHOUSE

November 2017- Starting in January of this year, Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal (KRSM) began building a new 27,000 square foot warehouse at the Highlands with 7 different offices and room to grow.

Glen Dale, WV is where the current warehouse has been located for the past 20 years. The warehouse holds a multitude of supplies for KRSM and East Coast Metal Systems (ECMS). They also deliver material to job sites and other KRSM locations.

The new warehouse will hold everyone from Glen Dale and will include a maintenance shop, storage room, and office personnel. With its new location next to the ECMS facility, panels and accessories can be shipped more efficiently.

The building is now in its final stages of construction and is expected to be completed by Christmas. With furniture, carpet and shelving being the only things left to install, Warehouse Manager Rick Bowers is hoping to get the okay to move in within the next month. “It will be a great addition after 20 years in Glendale, said Bowers, “It will be great going to a new building. It will allow us to better serve the guys in the field with the continuous growth everyone has made.”

BOSTON GREENBUILD 2017

November 2017- Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal (KRSM) Senior Engineer, Ed Calvert LEED AP, GRP attended Greenbuild 2017 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in Boston, Massachusetts on November 7-10th.

The event consisted of educational sessions, networking opportunities and was also a part of the largest sustainability products expo in the United States. I feel that by attending I have gained invaluable information and education and also increased our company’s marketability through networking with those at the forefront of our industry,” Ed said.
