FOREMAN SPOTLIGHT – JUNE 2023

Our featured foreman is Darnell Frazier with our Pittsburgh division!

Darnell began working for KRSM in July of 2018, and his first project was Franco’s Pizzaria at Acrisure Stadium (aka Heinz Field) with project manager Keith Hillberry. Currently, he is working on the POWER Campus Renovation in Swissvale, PA. A few of Darnell’s most memorable projects are “of course Heinz Field,” Carnegie Mellon University, and the Rivers Casino Hotel.

“I enjoy working for Kalkreuth because of the wide variety of jobs that I have worked on and the change of pace from service and production.”

Darnell lives in Scott Township with his fiance Terry and two kids, Brennan and Malia. Outside work, he loves spending time with his family, discovering great food, playing basketball with his kids, and fishing.

Darnell is one of many that we’re glad to have as a part of this family, and we couldn’t be more grateful for his continuous hard work over these last five years.

NWIR TREE PLANTING

On June 6th, the NWiR Wheeling Council gave Kalkreuth a gift to last a lifetime – a new Brandywine Maple Tree from E. Black & Son Nursery – as a way to celebrate National Roofing Week! Various council members helped with the planting process, and they would like to give a special shout-out to Scott Martin for all his help!

MARYLAND CLEAN UP DAY

On June 2nd, our Maryland division team members spent the afternoon at Pinecliff Park picking up trash, creating a cleaner and healthier community area. Afterward, they enjoyed a well-deserved moment of relaxation with music and snacks!

We’re grateful to have team members actively demonstrating our company’s commitment to sustainability and community engagement!

GOLF OUTING SEASON

Spring is in full swing, and summer is just around the corner! It’s officially golf outing season – Kalkreuth’s favorite time of the year! Every year, Kalkreuth partakes in building better communities by sponsoring and participating in multiple golf tournament fundraisers. Three recent events include the Bouncin’ Buckeyes 20th Annual Golf Classic for the Cure, the Oglebay Park Men’s Golf Club Reverse Raffle and Steak Fry, and the Wheeling Lions Club Golf Scramble.

Bouncin’ Buckeyes 20th Annual Golf Classic for the Cure

This annual golf scramble is a way for the Bouncin’ Buckeyes to support the Susan G Komen 3 Day – a 60-mile event that “raises money to build a world free of breast cancer through research, community, care, and action.” With 144 golfers, 74 sponsors/donors, and six volunteers, the Bouncin’ Buckeyes team raised $48,240!

Eddie Vargo and Dan Tennant participated in the scramble with Jon Dawson and Luke Gourley from Gilbane Building Company.

Oglebay Park Men’s Golf Club Reverse Raffle and Steak Fry

This 2nd annual event benefits Oglebay’s Junior Golf Association. With the help of Kalkreuth and many other sponsors, the Men’s Golf Club raised over $2,500!

Wheeling Lions Club Golf Scramble

This tournament has been run for 25 years by Sales Manager Dan Tennant. Through these annual golf scrambles, the Wheeling Lions Club has raised over $142,000 for Lions Charities, with most of the money staying in Wheeling. For example, they provide free glasses and eye exams to those in Ohio County who may be unable to afford them.

Bill Lewis, Joe Doerr, and Seth Abraham teamed up with Brian Pagel from ABC Supply.

WHITE PALACE GRAND RE-OPENING

On May 24th, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held for Wheeling Park’s White Palace – the home of many Kaley Christmas parties – to celebrate the completion of a $3.2 million renovation project! Renovations took place over seven months, but a new cafe, a cafe deck, a veranda, and significant improvements to the ballroom were worth the wait!

“The American Rescue Plan Act funding allocated to the Wheeling Park Commission will help pave the way for many improvements to Wheeling Park, a true community park that is an asset to our city,” said Wheeling Mayor Glenn Elliott. “Countless local residents have very fond memories of Wheeling Park from their childhoods, and city council is pleased to support projects like this one that will benefit our citizens and visitors alike.”

Additionally, the Kalkreuth team was proud to partake in these renovations earlier this spring by performing a reroof on the ice rink.
This project, led by Geoff Wack, includes a 32,000 sq. ft. overlay of the existing metal roofing system and the installation of new metal wall cladding over the existing wood siding on the rink’s front wall.

We’re very excited about the future of the White Palace as it’s just one of the many substantial improvements to the city of Wheeling!

WHEELING CLEAN UP DAY

On May 19th, a few members from our corporate office cleaned up the streets of downtown Wheeling! It’s where we work, live, and have fun. Our communities help to sustain us, and being active within them is an important part of who we are.

Thank you to all who participated! We appreciate you taking time out of your Friday to help out!

COLUMBUS GOLF OUTING

On May 12th, Kalkreuth was happy to be the Bloody Mary Sponsor for the Canal Winchester Chamber’s Connections on the Course Golf Outing.

Thankfully, the rain held off for our Columbus office participants!
