MARCH 2017 – Osvaldo “Oz” Lugo with Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal’s (KRSM) West Virginia division is this month’s featured sheet metal foreman.
Oz began working for KRSM as a sheet metal worker in 2013 and became a sheet metal foreman in just six short months. Oz recalled his first project with KRSM was the Maryland Public Health Laboratory in Baltimore where he worked with former Project Manager (PM) Jeff Piazza before he was promoted to Kentucky Division Manager. Oz is currently working at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with PM John Sberna.
Oz has a total of 14 years experience in the industry and has worked on several high-profile projects during his time with Kalkreuth. One of his most memorable projects was actually his first project at the Maryland Public Health Laboratory because it utilized a newer panel system.
“Oz is a good worker and pays attention to detail,” said PM John Sberna who works with him frequently. “He’s very safety conscientious, a good leader, and keeps the crews happy.”
When asked about safety on the job, Oz said “I always put safety first and have not had a problem on a job in my 14 years of working. I make sure to call (Safety Manager) Jeremy Dvorcek to make sure I have all I need, and I always remember to know my limits. If I need help with something, I don’t hesitate to reach out for help, and I encourage my crews to do the same.”
Oz stated his sincere appreciation to KRSM for caring about its employees. “They treat you like a person and take such good care of you… bad days, good days, hot, cold, or rain I will always come to work.”
Oz lives in Frederick, Maryland with his wife Melani and has two children, Sofia (6) and William (almost 3). We are proud to have Oz as a member of the Kalkreuth family and sincerely appreciate his continuous hard work since he began in 2013.
