DECEMBER 2016 — Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal Senior Engineer Ed Calvert earned his Green Roof Professional (GRP) Accreditation through Green Roofs for Healthy Cities, which was established in 2004 as an industry association focused on the promotion of green construction across North America. The GRP Accreditation is North America’s leading form of distinction for individuals who design, install, and maintain green roofs.
Ed was the first industry professional in the state of West Virginia to earn this accreditation and underwent months of research, training courses, and studying. Since early 2014, Ed has also upheld a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional (AP) certification with a Building Design and Construction specialty (BD+C) through the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). He has been exposed to the numerous benefits and overwhelming industry presence of green construction in today’s culture and recognized the importance in getting involved for the benefit of his future and the company. Ed will now be involved in continuing education annually and re-certification for both accreditations on a bi-annual basis.
“By obtaining this accreditation, it demonstrates to our customers our ability and dedication to provide services at the leading edge of technology in our industry, services that very few of our competitors can provide,” Ed said. “This training and subsequent accreditation was essential for me to stay up to date with the latest requirements, trends, and techniques in green roofing.”
“Ed has worked hard to increase his involvement with green building in the construction industry,” stated company President John Kalkreuth. “We truly appreciate our dedicated employees like Ed who are willing to go above and beyond to ensure our continued growth and development in the years to come.”
